Message So as I search craigslist for 300zx related items, I see the heading "300zx turbo carcass" and I think, yep.. another z31 on craigslist, what else is new. So I click on it to see an ad description that makes the car out to look pretty bad, but does mention it is a '90 with 87k on it.

I emailed the seller the night it was posted, told him I'd like to take a look at it, but wanted to see pics in the meantime. Once I saw pics, I got excited. I see a smashed front end of a silver '90 TT with a license plate that reads "TURBOZX". The damage was less than I expected, but the driver's headlight bucket is screwed and the radiator support was pushed back a couple inches on that side as well. I don't know if the frame rails are tweaked at all yet.

Anyways, here's the story. It was owned by a doctor, and the doctor's wife had bought the car for him as a gift 18 years ago, brand new from the dealer, they are the original owners! He took very good care of the car, maintenance at all the right times, anytime a noise was heard it was fixed, etc. Aside from the front end damage which will require a hood, fender, bumper (maybe), nose panel, headlight, radiator support and headlight bucket, the rest of the car is in very good condition. The leather seats are near perfect, no cracks or tears at all, even the spoiler is completely straight!

The doctor and his wife were very nice, they explained how they are really sad to see the car go, as they have a strong attachment to it since it was a gift 18 years ago, has been in their family, their children learned to drive stick shift on the car, etc - just lots of memories. After I explained I'd take real good care making sure it was fixed to my standards, and that I have two others at the house, he said "Well, if you get it fixed back up real nice and decide you have one too many, bring it on back and I'll gladly buy it back from you". It was really cool, he and his wife had a strong bond with the car and they told me then and later in an email that they were both very happy that I was taking the car, and not someone who would part it out or ruin it, which I thought was cool. I've decided I'm going to make a picture documentary of the whole rebuild process from the day I bring it home to when it is finished - whenever that will be. Once finished, I am going to send him the album with all of the pictures, and let him and his wife take it for another cruise.

I'm excited though, he brought with him the original nissan car cover with bag, t top shades and bags, and ALL THREE keys (titanium, red, and black - all original) when I bought the car. He says he has some pictures and all the documentation at home and I'll be picking it up today along with the car hopefully if I can get a tow truck.

This should be a fun trip. Here's one pic as a teaser:
